Welcome to the Highlands. Welcome to anaesthetics training.
Have a look at The Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCOA) advice before you start Anaesthetics. https://www.rcoa.ac.uk/training-careers/training-anaesthesia/novice-guide
This document aims to start you on your way explaining some basics and give you a rough idea of what will be expected of you. If anything is unclear then feel free to ask myself, your Educational Supervisor or your buddy. I hope that you make good use of the peer-to-peer buddy system.
Do let me know anything I should add to this introduction document, and how to improve the process of induction to the specialty and to the department.
Jenny Parsons College Tutor for Core Anaesthetics, Raigmore
(College Tutor is a little like local chief Educational Supervisor, but it is not Training Programme Director. Our TPD is currently a consultant called Calum McDonald, who is based in Aberdeen)
If you are filling in forms and request and it asks you to state your “Line Manager”, your first choice should be the Head of Department, currently David Blacoe. Or if it is a critical care thing, then Marian MacKinnon. If David won’t be available then feel free to use me instead.
