About the arcp

The Annual Review of Competence progession

The composition and function of the ARCP Panel is described in the Gold Guide published and updated by COPMED. As is the review process for ARCPs. This is a generic system used for all medical specialties at all levels and the guide describes the Foundation ARCP process as well as Core and Specialty Training ARCPs. There is a specific Royal College of Anaesthetists guide for ARCP requirements and outcomes and this is published here on the RCOA website.

For those trainees in the Core Acute Care Common Stem programme, there is a guide here.

the panel

The ARCP panel in the North of Scotland is administered by support from administrators in NES, based in Glasgow. Other members of the panel are usually: The Assistant Post Graduate Dean for Anaesthetics, ICM and Emergency Medicine for the North of Scotland. The names of current Assistant Postgraduate Deans are listed here. The current Training Programme Director (TPD) for the North of Scotland. Current TPDs are listed here. The Regional Advisor for Anaesthesia (RAA) for the North of Scotland (appointed by the Royal College). And some of the local College Tutors. These people are named here. Recently there has not been a lay member on the ARCP panel, but future panels may reintroduce a Lay member. Panels meet over microsoft TEAMs.
