Training on imaging the spine with a view to ultrasound assisted central neuraxial procedures will continue in person intermittently in Raigmore.
An example of a video to watch before practicing scanning the spine is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_k2I774klo
Most people use a curvilinear probe set to a depth of 9 – 11 cm and most do not do real time ultrasonography during needling. It is used to assist establish and mark the best needle insertion point and to estimate the depth to the posterior complex.
Here is a neat web based simulation of scanning the spine No, it’s not secure, usra.ca always comes up with that error. And to increase your anxiety, this requires installation of a third party flash emulator called ‘ruffle’ to make the simulator work. It’s nice though. Works on Edge as well as presumably Chrome.
